All Things Southern.

I love themes.  And I highly recommend dinners with themes!

We sent this in an e-mail invitation to our non-southern friends:

Do you qualify??  Ask yourself these simple questions:
1.  Have you ever had shrimp and grits?
2.  Have you ever eaten fried okra?
3.  When I say “pimento” do you think “cheese?”
4.  Do you often use the phrase “I’m fixin’ to…”?
5.  Have you ever had a fresh peach cobbler from peaches that grew on a tree a few days ago?

If you answer NO to any of these questions, please consider yourself invited to the “All things Southern meal.” 

So a few of us Southerners joined together to provide the following menu:

Pimento Cheese

Cheese Ball

Shrimp & grits

Fried Okra

Collard Greens

Tomato slices

Cucumbers soaked in vinegar

Buttermilk Biscuits (White Lily flour, of course)

Peach & Blueberry Cobbler

LOTS of sweet tea

sweet tea was served in Mason jars.
